To Be Young Again

Seeing Allie-Ann do the slip-n-slide this past Memorial Day made me think back to the days when we used to play on the slip. But our slip (as I call it) was just one long piece of plastic and we would have a hose to make it wet to go down. We would stand back about 10 feet to get a good running start and flop our bodies on the plastic. Sometimes (depending on where you put your slip) we would go shooting down the slide to only land in the grass on the other end. But other times you would do all that running and just land on a piece of plastic and not go anywhere. Those were the days. We would play so much on it that our little tummies would get raw and bruised. But we didn't care...it was all about fun times in the water. Fast forward to today and you have a souped-up model of the slip. I mean who ever thought that the slip could have a pool attached to the end and blow up sides to use as bumpers. The children these days have it made....ha! But really, the slip-n-slides have come a long way. So Allie-Ann got to test it out this weekend and this slip had a boogie board to go with it. Nice! She doesn't quite understand the concept that you have to run and slide so her daddy had to help her along, but she had fun. Give her one more year and she will be sliding in no time (sans the bruises like we had to endure).

Excuse Belle...her bathing suit no longer fits..oops! This little girl is growing so fast!
Now..the pool Allie-Ann is sitting in hasn't changed. They still make the good 'ol plastic pools.
